- Only property owners are permitted to have golf carts in the Ocean Ridge Community. Renters and Time-share visitors are not permitted to bring golf carts into the community.

- All golf carts operated in the Ocean Ridge Community must be registered with the Property Management Office (Southern Community Services: 843-869-4300). To obtain such a registration, the owner of the golf cart must present to the Management Office: satisfactory proof of ownership, proof of insurance, a valid driver’s license, and a valid State of South Carolina golf cart sticker showing the golf cart’s registration with the State of South Carolina.

- All persons operating a golf cart in the Ocean Ridge Community must have a valid Driver’s license. This is the law in South Carolina and applicable within the Ocean Ridge Community. There are no exceptions to this Rule and the presence of a licensed driver in the golf cart, if driven by an unlicensed driver, does not satisfy this requirement or permit the operation of the golf cart by an unlicensed driver.

- Operators of a golf cart must observe all South Carolina laws regarding the operation of golf carts and all rules of the road adopted by the Master Property Owners’ Board for the Ocean Ridge Community such as: stop signs, speed signs, do not enter signs, one-way signs and yield signs.

- Upon registration with the Property Management Office, a Ocean Ridge golf cart sticker will be issued and must be displayed on the golf cart at all times in a visible location. If the golf cart is registered to obtain an RFID sticker, then the RFID shall serve as the required golf cart sticker and be displayed on the golf cart at all times in a visible location.

- All golf carts must have a current Ocean Ridge golf cart sticker and/or RFID to permit its operation in the Ocean Ridge Community.
In addition, operators of golf carts must observe the golf cart laws of South Carolina and the Town of Edisto Beach:

- golf carts can only be operated during daylight hours (headlights on a golf cart does not exempt the golf cart and its operator from this law)
- golf carts can only be operated within 3 miles of the owner’s residence
- golf carts can only be operated on secondary highways and streets
- golf carts cannot be operated on a primary highway but can cross a primary highway. (This means straight across, not at an angle. Palmetto Boulevard is a primary highway, SC 174 both 4 lanes and 2 lanes form the Town Limit to the Marina is a primary highway)
- open container law and all other motor vehicle and parking laws apply to golf carts
