From Edisto Beach Police Chief Daniel Seyle:

Posted 4/14/23  As most of you know, there was a shooting last weekend on the Isle of Palms.  Today the police were monitoring Folly Beach due to social media rumors of a possible large gathering of teenagers there.  I have not heard of any problems at Folly so far.  Please be aware of your surroundings and call 911 if you have something to report.  Do NOT call Town Hall or the Police Department.  911 can get the officers on duty where they need to be the quickest.  I am in contact with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, SLED and DNR and there is a significant police presence on the beach this week.  Thank you.

Horace Kinsey Retires New Manager Announced

Posted 12/8/22: Horace Kinsey has announced his retirement as the Manager of the Ocean Ridge MPOA. Deborah Hargis has been selected as his replacement. You may recognize Deborah from her eight plus years as Town Clerk for Edisto Beach or from her years as a Happie Truck driver. She has been a permanent resident of Edisto Island since 2012, and her parents Henry and Harriett Tindall have owned their home on Palmetto Boulevard since 1965. She has spent her summers here since that time. Deborah is the proud mother of two grown daughters: Ellison, a school counselor in Burlington, NC and Mary Bryce, who works for education software company IXL and lives in Las Vegas. In her spare time, Deborah enjoys spending time on her family’s farm in Calhoun County and reading.

Horace will continue working with Deborah during a period of transition. All inquiries should now be directed to Deborah.  We are very grateful to Horace for his years of service to the MPOA and happily welcome Deborah as the new Manager.
